Reference: Dr. Tobin's Interview (May. '03, Business English from NHK radio)
Tobin: Stress is life, huh?
Pedersen: Well, and I think it's necessary.
Pedersen: I think any time we encounter change, it's going to create a certain amount of stress. And so I'd like to look at this as "good" stress", growing stress. The stress with the new system that would help, more early on, identify what a person's potential to the organization is, how they can be developed and groomed to reach a higher level in the organization. And how to deal with it, try it. See if you like it.
Tobin: Yeah, yeah. Take the jump. Or be open to some change.
Pedersen: Right. And I think what happens is, if people try it, then inevitably the system will get changed. The system, if it's a good system, will listen to the inputs of the people that use it and it'll change and be more suitable for the people over the long term. So try it. Go with the stress. Live through the stress but make your voice heard.
